CEO Weekly Message

What a solid week of meetings and engagements for Chairman Nelson Crawshaw and myself whilst in Canberra at the Australian Local Government Conference (ALGA). The interaction with many of the delegates has been heartening, with a proactive approach from Local Governments towards RV related tourism. This conference gives us the opportunity to showcase the wonderful benefits we can offer a town or city through our CMCA RV Parks, RV Friendly Towns and Dump Point initiatives.

On Wednesday, we had the privilege of attending the National Road Safety Awards at Parliament House. While we didn’t take home a major award, it was still great to be recognised amongst the finalists and we will continue our hard work across RV road safety. Our rvSafe initiative was well received at the conference. We had the opportunity to distribute the new rvSafe Handbook that was unveiled recently at the Queensland Caravan and Camping Supershow. This handbook is a vital educational tool that Local Government, through their designated road safety officers, will be able to use. We also held an excellent meeting on Tuesday evening with Senator the Hon Carol Brown, Assistant Minister for Transport and Infrastructure, to discuss further funding for the program over the next four years. We have spent the last three and half years developing the rvSafe program, and now really want to focus on the education and promotion of it. We are hopeful we will receive a response to our submission and application around August/September. It is very important for the Federal Government to support such an initiative, especially in order to meet their own milestone of zero fatalities by 2050.

Remember, safe travelling.

Richard
