With what’s been a year of change, we have one further change to advise members of. On Wednesday, the board resolved to move the 35th National Rally from Gympie, Qld to Bingara, NSW because of difficulties that have arisen due to other users of the event complex and COVID-19 restrictions. From the start, it has been difficult to establish an agreement with the Gympie Showground and Race Club - who are the prominent users of this complex. There was also concerns for potential risks due to the daily training of horses on the track. The initial agreement allowed for flexibility, however they were not prepared to be flexible in the negotiations for the new agreement. They also placed COVID-19 restrictions on the number of people permitted in buildings/rooms, which is a significant factor for this change of venue. Therefore, I would like to advise that the 35th Nationally Rally in 2021 will be held in Bingara – it is all systems go! We expect this event to be held mid-October, however this will be confirmed in due course.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank Gympie Regional Council for their assistance - the difficulties that were presented were not at their fault. Jo Tremain will be the rally manager in Bingara, and her team will be calling on volunteers shortly.
On a side note, we are thinking of those members in South Australia who are currently in lockdown. We hope that the virus will be brought under control as soon as possible.
Safe travelling
Richard
