What a week it has been here in Gunnedah, celebrating the 33rd National Rally! We’ve had rain, we’ve had sunshine, but most of all we have had a fantastic time. Entry into the rally site was a breeze. The new entry system worked a treat, with the Meet and Greet Team processing two vehicles every minute. The first evening we were entertained by legendary performer and CMCA member Jade Hurley. We also had a great performance by Joey Fimmano & Accompanist; who, along with Jade the night before, received a standing ovation. Overall the entertainment has been of a high standard. Future rallies will certainly have to lift their game.
]516 members attended the AGM on Monday morning, and proposed motions 1, 2, 3 & 5 were overwhelmingly accepted by the majority. Motions 4 & 6 were withdrawn. The success of these motions gives us a strong indication that the membership support our current board of directors.
Today we witnessed a hive of activity at the disc bowls competition and the wrap up of the seminars, craft barn, GeoWiki Help Desk, men’s shed and ladies retreat. The overall standard of this rally and its participants has been high. Our ‘Australiana’ themed ball will take place tonight, and we’re excited to see all the unique costumes. Things wrap up Saturday night with the closing ceremony, before members hit the road once again.
A big congratulations to all who organised and attended this fantastic rally.
Safe travelling
Richard
