CMCA Statement (14) – Coronavirus/COVID-19 20 May 2020

We would like to thank members again for their ongoing support of the Club and continued commitment for doing the right thing – social distancing and abiding by the regulations set down by all levels of Government. States and territories continue to relax certain aspects of the restrictions; however, we cannot become complacent. As the virus claimed the life of its 100th victim this week, we are reminded of the dire impact on many who have been affected in varying ways.

This week has seen NHQ staff return to the office, albeit to an environment with new procedures in place. Currently, the office complex is still closed to all members and visitors; however, we hope to ease the restriction on dump point access soon. We would like to take this opportunity to thank the staff for their dedication and commitment to working remotely and through various challenges that came with it.

To assist you, as further restrictions are eased, we continue to update relevant travel and accommodation options on our website https://benefits.cmca.net.au/Content/stay so you can remain apprised of current information easily. However, we also encourage you to do your own research via the various Government websites.

Further news in relation to our CMCA RV Park Network:

  •  Penola, SA is now open for members travelling within South Australia.
  • The Queensland Government announced this week that travel within Outback Queensland is now permitted up to 500km – overnight stays only. Please note, only those who currently reside within the specified Outback shires can now travel within the Outback region. In response to this, CMCA has re-opened the Charleville CMCA RV Park Bush Camp. If you are uncertain whether you are eligible to travel, please check with the Queensland Government’s website.
  • The Club’s latest RV park in Temora, NSW will hopefully open in approximately two weeks when travel within regional NSW is permitted.
  • Other parks remain closed at this stage – members will be advised in a timely matter of any further changes.

When each of our RV parks do re-open, it is imperative that all members abide by any group number limits, travel restrictions and advice set by the relevant state and territory Governments, as well as any extra precautions laid down by CMCA such as distancing between vehicles. Members are also reminded that all chapter/SIG events are still postponed until further notice.

We still require further expressions of interest from any members interested in becoming an RV park custodian. If you would like to assist, please contact Sue Murray at suzannemurray@cmca.net.au or Sean Constable at seanconstable@cmca.net.au.

Whilst social media has played a big role in members keeping in touch during isolation, it does come with issues. Especially when incorrect or misleading facts and statements are made. This has been the case recently in the discussion of insurance. Please be advised that we do investigate concerns that are raised, as it has been discovered that some members post information that is partially incorrect or misleading. I ask all members to be mindful of what they post as it can have the possibility of becoming litigious; social media does not give you the right to say something that is not factual, cannot be supported or is misleading.

Once again, we would like to thank you for your patience and understanding as we all continue through these current times. For those members lucky enough to be travelling again, please enjoy and remain safe.
