CMCA Statement (13) – Coronavirus/COVID-19 13 May 2020
We would like to again thank members for their ongoing support of the Club and continued commitment for doing the right thing – social distancing and abiding by all regulations set down by Federal, State and Territorian Governments. All states and territories have now started, or continue, to relax aspects of the restrictions; however, we cannot be complacent.
You will see us repeating the message encouraging you to download the COVIDSafe app – with further information available at https://www.health.gov.au/resources/apps-and-tools/covidsafe-app.
To assist you, we have updated relevant travel information and accommodation options on our website https://benefits.cmca.net.au/Content/stay so you can remain apprised of current information easily. We also encourage you to do your own research via the various Government websites prior to any travel or movement.
We have had several enquiries about when chapters and SIGs will be permitted to have scheduled meetings again. As most states and territories still have quite restrictive numbers permitted for group gatherings, please be advised that the current suspension of all chapter and SIG events, and other larger rallies, will continue until further notice. The board will meet in early June to discuss this further and they will be guided by the current advice of Government and relevant health authorities. As always, decisions are primarily based on the health and well-being of our members.
CMCA RV Parks were closed in March as a result of Government COVID-19 restrictions and advice. As the lifting of restrictions continue, we are planning to re-open our CMCA RV Park network in the near future. We now need to ensure our parks have custodians available for when they re-open:
If you can assist by becoming a custodian, please contact Sue Murray at suzannemurray@cmca.net.au or Sean Constable at seanconstable@cmca.net.au.
Naturally, the above re-opening plan is subject to relevant Governments and the permission of regional travel, as well as the re-opening of camping grounds and caravan parks. Also, due to current interstate travel restrictions, members visiting CMCA RV Parks must already be within that state or territory.
Once our RV parks do re-open, it is imperative that all members abide by any group number limits, travel restrictions and advice set by the relevant state and territory Governments, as well as any extra precautions laid down by CMCA such as distancing between vehicles etc.
As we have advised, Ken Tame and Associates (KTA) will no longer provide the Roadside Assistance package. The transfer of operations from KTA to Allianz Global Assistance (AGA) unfortunately requires more internal procedures than expected and therefore there will be a delay with the full implementation. Previously, KTA undertook this task; however, when this is completed it will be a simple join or renewal process through AGA directly. We understand that Roadside Assistance is important to our membership and the uptake over the past four years has been promising. We will keep you advised on the developments of this member benefit.
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we all continue through current times – albeit with a little light peeking through at the end of that tunnel.
Kim Atkinson Richard Barwick
Chairman Chief Executive Officer
