CMCA Receives Grant

CMCA RECEIVES RECORD FUNDING OF $500,000 FROM NSW GOVERNMENT

The Campervan & Motorhome Club of Australia (CMCA) has secured its largest funding grant when it was announced today that they will receive $500,000 from NSW Government for a major upgrade of dump points across NSW.

Parliamentary Secretary for the Hunter Scot MacDonald MLC today announced that CMCA will receive $500,000 in funding from the Regional Growth Environment and Tourism Fund.

CMCA CEO Richard Barwick said, “It is excellent that the NSW Government has the foresight in developing RV tourism for the state and this basic piece of infrastructure can lead to economic, environmental and social sustainability”.

This significant step for the Club will lead to the installation of another 80 dump points in much needed areas across rural and regional NSW. The development of this infrastructure will cater for the growing RV market, which is the fastest growing sector in the tourism arena.

Dump points are vital infrastructure for the whole recreational vehicle (RV) market, including the coach/bus sector, with most RVs requiring the use of a dump point for the disposal of their black and grey water every 3-5 days.

CMCA Chairman Garry Lee is excited by the news that the Club has secured its largest government grant for road tourism infrastructure.

“This will bring New South Wales to the forefront of RV tourism providing essential infrastructure to encourage RV travellers to visit the state. I am very confident the grant will ensure visitation to many rural and regional areas in NSW, bringing a significant boost in tourism to these regions,” Mr Lee said.

NSW currently has 107 CMCA funded public dump points across the state. With this number expected to rise to 187 as a result of the funding, NSW will become the leader in RV tourism development.

CMCA will now work with Local Government and local community organisations across NSW, such as show societies and racecourses, to expand the number of dump points in the state. The Hunter Valley has been identified as a significant location for development, alongside the Northern Tablelands, South Coast and Western NSW.

CMCA would like to thank the NSW Government and Deputy Premier of New South Wales John Barilaro, Minister for Tourism and Major Events Adam John Marshall and Parliamentary Secretary for the Hunter Scot MacDonald for their valued support to the project.
