CMCA Statement (11) – Coronavirus/COVID-19 – IMPORTANT UPDATE 29 April 2020

It is somewhat relieving to hear this week, that some states and territories are starting to look at relaxing certain aspects of the restrictions. We no doubt all hold our breath in hope that there is not a subsequent increase of cases diagnosed. That way hopefully more restrictions will be eased.

On behalf of all directors, we again thank members for their continued support of the Club; and acknowledge the ongoing commitment of members for doing the right thing – maintaining social distancing and abiding by the varying regulations set down by Federal, State and Territorian Governments.

We would like to start this week’s message encouraging members to download the COVIDSafe app. On Sunday night, the National Cabinet introduced the COVIDSafe app to aid all Australians in fighting this global pandemic. On behalf of CMCA, we encourage you to strongly consider joining in and downloading the app (https://www.health.gov.au/resources/apps-and-tools/covidsafe-app). By doing this you will complement the outstanding initiatives and efforts achieved to date in keeping everyone safe and it will reinforce, in the eyes of the Government, CMCA's and its members’ willingness to assist during this public health crisis. Whilst we urge you to do this as soon as possible to give every Australian the best chance of seeing more restrictions lifted, we do acknowledge this is a personal decision. However, the Government has guaranteed data will not be shared or used in any other way but in response to the pandemic should you or someone you have been in close contact with for more than 15 minutes test positive.

We would like to thank the many members who continue to pay their renewals on their previous due date prior to the board extending all memberships by 6 months, which you all will still receive. We have had around 50% of our members continue to renew which allows the Club to operate under a solid cash flow. Believe it or not, new members continue to join during this crisis, which is very pleasing. Not the numbers as before; however, our social media marketing is continuing to give us representation and a presence in the marketplace.

This week you will see some changes to the CMCA member website as we enhance the appearance and functionality of the platform. We believe it will be easier to navigate and looks even more professional than previous. We continue to make upgrades to our IT system to ensure it is the best possible platform to operate on, with an update of the CMCA Connect app to be completed in the next couple of months. A good IT system is also essential for NHQ to run this Club in a professional way.

We continue to work on a proposed venue for the 2020 AGM, which is likely to be held in late November. We hope to confirm details in the coming weeks.

Business development for the Club continues as we are committed to providing more member benefits when we all return to travel. For example, we continue to secure more RV Friendly Towns and Destinations, and we are pleased to announce the CMCA RV Park in Temora, NSW is nearing completion. We also have development applications being prepared for three other locations in Tas, NSW and Qld.

Finally, we would like to remind members that the 2020 Board of Directors Election is taking place with all details available in May’s The Wanderer and on our website later this week. There are two director positions available this year. If anyone would like to receive a director pack, please email NHQ at enquiries@cmca.net.au. Details of the returning officer are featured in the information and Michelle Wilson can be contacted at any time by email at elections.cmca@gmail.com to discuss the process of the election.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we all continue through this disruptor to life.
