Happy Friday everyone
Earlier this week, chairman Garry Lee and I attended the NSW Local Government Annual Conference in Albury. This event is the second largest of its kind held in Australia, with the majority of the 150 local government areas in NSW represented by mayors, councillors, general managers and CEO’s. Over the past 15 years, CMCA have established a great relationship with Local Government, and this has developed due to our strong drive to promote and bring RV tourism into their towns and cities; particularly into rural and regional areas. In June 2018, courtesy of the NSW Government, CMCA was successful in its grant application to receive $500,000 in funding to be used for installation of dump points in regional and rural areas of NSW. As a result, many NSW councils are now eager to take up this initiative with several showing keen interest at the Albury event. Another major point of interest at the conference was the CMCA RV Park project, where a number of councils sought additional information on how their town and region could benefit. Councils are now starting to realise that the RV tourism market is an essential element of growth, without having to rely on traditional areas such as agriculture and manufacturing. All in all, this conference was a highly successful venture for CMCA.
We attend the majority of government conferences held throughout the year, and next week, we will be attending the Queensland Local Government Annual Conference, in Brisbane. We look forward to further positive developments for CMCA.
Safe travelling
Richard
